Help for XPaint

• Toolbox Window
  • File
    • New Canvas
      • Opens a blank white canvas of 640x480 and zoom of 1
    • New Canvas with Size
      • Allows for setting the width, height, and zoom.
      • Creates a blank white canvas of the specified dimensions.
    • Open
      • You pick the file you want to open. This is for retrieving images you already have.
    • Quit
      • Quits XPaint altogether.
  • Line
    • Allows you to set the line point size.
  • Font
    • Allows you to set the font.
  • Tool Pictures
    • Paintbrush
      • Paint brush stroke
    • Eraser
      • Erases to white
    • Line Pencil
      • Continuous drawing pencil if you hold the left button down
    • Dot Pencil
      • One pixel per left button press
    • Square Select
      • Selects with a square box
    • Draw Select
      • Selects the area you draw around
    • Point Select
      • Each click makes a vertex point, middle click selects.
    • Airbrush
      • Paint with a spray can
    • Flood fill
      • Fills all connected point from where you left click.
    • Spectrum Flood Fill
      • Fills with a spectrum of color all connected points from where you left click.
    • Eyedropper
      • Like water on an ink page, causes a smear/blend to happen.
    • Letters
      • Lets you type in letters
    • Straight line
      • Click once and hold to start the line, then let go where you want the line to end.
    • Multiple Lines from 1 Vertex
      • Click once to establish the vertex, then each left click draws a line from the vertex to that point. Middle clicking stops.
    • Arc
      • Click and hold then release when you get the arc you want.
    • Connected lines
      • Click once then each click connects a line from the last click. Middle stops.
    • Square
      • Draws a square in the primary color.
    • Square Filled
      • Draws a square in the primary color and fills with secondary color.
    • Circle
      • Draws a circle in the primary color.
    • Circle Filled
      • Draws a circle in the primary color and fills with the secondary color.
    • Polygon
      • Draws connected lines with left clicks until you press the middle button which connect to the original vertex.
    • Polygon Filled
      • Draws connected lines with left clicks until you press the middle button which connect to the original vertex. Fills with secondary color.
    • Draw
      • Draw a region by holding down the left button. When you let go it will connect to the original point.
    • Draw Filled
      • Draw a region by holding down the left button. When you let go it will connect to the original point. Fills in secondary color.
• Canvas Window
  • File
    • Save
      • Allows you save the current canvas as an image. Does not prompt for a name once a name has been assigned.
    • Save As
      • Allows you specify a name to save the current canvas as. With this you can specify a new name even if you have already save under another one.
    • Close
      • Lets you close the current canvas (does not exit XPaint).
  • Image
    • Visible Grid
      • Lets you turn on or off the visible grid.
    • Change Size
      • This lets you change the size of the current canvas. This is not "UNDO"able and will not scale your current canvas.
    • Change Zoom
      • This lets you change the current zoom of the window.
  • Adding a Solid Color
    • Click "Add Solid"
    • Clicking match will let you click anywhere on your screen to obtain a color. Value is your alpha, Red Green Blue are what you think they are.
    • Clicking Ok adds the color to your primary and secondary palettes.
    • Clicking Cancel, cancels.
  • Lookup
    • Clicking "Lookup" will let you select a color from anywhere on your screen and immediately add it to your palette.
  • Right Click on a Palette Color
    • Allows you to Edit (Add Solid or Add Pattern) or Remove a color/pattern.
